Divided Sky 03:53
Inside the hourglass… Under a divided sky… The harsh winds reveal my origin A battle for freedom and repose This place is still dormant Still asleep in the depths of my memory
2.
Early in the morning Making noise Another dull day Faced the same way to get by Passing by where we were Together The siren sounds and she sends us out the door Lines of us nameless Sending a plea to someone out there who's listening Deep echoes and shifting ground All this for the sake of renown Mantras to see another day Their bullets will miss me and I will endure A test of strength and wit A battlefield with no limits And we’re right in the middle Uncolored eyes behold a breach in honor Trapped within a fleeting unrest “Chivalrous” interference An outside voice needs to be heard Exclusive gift over the airwaves Simple words break through Time slips by Missed our chance to sit on the grid We’ll be alright As you slip a look back at me Dead last Doesn’t matter where we start Save it for last A hard cut to the front Final corner From the old path to new I guess we weren’t meant to see this through One event to shape the world Our skies have begun to change Pulled away, a dying wish Seven stars, then an eighth A hunter A blank stare A passing A fate shared
3.
Seven Stars 05:00
Her rumors swirl I know they’re fake But amidst the talk Our new friend awakes Her quiet stare Her timid form Innocent questions Answers unborn In need of sleep Pacing our room At wit’s end, still yet to choose Awoken by (curiosity) A keepsake (taken from her life) I feel just fine (A red light pours in) Pulsing Looming (I’ve been found again) It's been this way as long as I can remember, as shifting sands harbor bitterness beneath the surface I may not know it now, but I fear I'll always live my life in the shadow of the four pointed star I'll have words Silent running Sound gives us away Through the falls We come down like heavy rain Hoisted from a limb A muted plea Sudden silence I still can breathe A lone shadow A concrete stare He takes her away Leaves us hanging A phantom myth Come and gone I’ll have words
4.
Shadowboxer 07:12
I wake to soft grins Given leave to question myself Why do you protect her? Why do you fly these skies? Do you know your heading? You have no answer I grip tightly at nothing No words pass my lips Sirens There’s been a breach I won’t let them take you Purpose A controlled nosedive I will fight them for you Foolish From atop my spire Taken an interest in you He watches us He reads our moves Our tells, he taunts I drain out blue I can’t hold on Red out False triggers Just jokes to him Split movement Time restricts I clench tightly at nothing No breath passes my lips What am I? A new side of the way you fly I can’t believe the sight Of all the fear from what’s mine I sleep to sounds of ruin
5.
Swindle 06:26
The smell of riches tempts The circuit game of chance [STEP RIGHT UP!] Sounds of gleeful chants All in on one last dance [PLACE YOUR BETS!] Sleepy heads flash awake Only to fall away [AND THEY’RE OFF] Plundered in plain sight Won’t leave without a fight [WHAT A DEVELOPMENT!] Masks move about [A high class fray, yes?] In awe of the key [Trivial trinkets, yes?] Worth a king’s ransom [50 BILLION CLAUDIA!] Or my silence it seems [YOU’LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE!] Blackout Fake out You’ve been tricked into a fake Under darkness I can make my getaway You’ve been swindled Egos wane in front of me Four lines answered Only one to memory Rematch for the jokes before Loss will leave your ego sore, a lighter store Neck and neck you keep up till the final lap Heavy with a burden, you don’t stand a chance [Oooh, so we meet again! So glad to see you’re doing so well! Tell you what. If I win, you have to tell me your real name. How does that sound, Immelmann? I won’t go easy on you. WHAT SAY YOU!?] I won’t leave your side I’ll be here, always You see different skies Trust in me when I say I can lift you up I’m the air in your wings I hope it’s enough
6.
Mysterion 01:20
[“What silently sleeps beyond the great blue?” “One to guide the aimless back to the source. Exile.”] My whisper reaches her ear Her body begins to glow The life that’s grown so dear Dragged into the undertow In my heart, a sinking feeling She fades under me Heaves leave my eyes quickly tearing I am deaf to the screams
7.
Zeal/Appeal 10:09
Open sand Open sky Open hands Open eyes I need you I’m alone in my reliance on you This can’t be You’re standing strong as I fall to ruin My tears fall Dried by the sand and your attire I’m not yours The clothes I now wear better cement reliance on you I didn’t mean to leave a trail I feel your eyes peer right through me I wonder who will ever know My fear is sewn upon my sleeve I’m not sure why I’m here A sort of half thought retreat But with the line erased I’ve taken in my unease Broken wings keep us here A haven to get us by I'm blinded next to you Gunshots melt in the red sky The smell of home holds us Held close by those dear to us Slowly growing without knowing The burden soon set upon us I remember it clearly I cling to it tightly I long for it dearly I’m woken by it nightly But not this time I knowingly resigned Stuck thinking back on all we used to be You were truly meant for me I can’t face you I can’t even tell you Why I sometimes cry I can’t face you I can’t even tell you Why I can’t say goodbye Now I wake to my own teardrops Given leave to rebuild myself I try to keep my mind on track Then you show your face, with her, with words And your scent adorns her body Our home is nothing more than ashes Flowing on the whims of the wind
8.
Her eyes sting Her mouth closed Her tears burn Don’t read into those clothes His eyes shift His lips tight His fears swirl Don’t narrow your sight My breath short My eyes learn My calm shelved Don’t add to the burn Their past caught Their fate lied Their faith lost Don’t you dare hide Unspoken words weigh heavy upon my chest Your ears too deaf to listen Teardrops echo in the sound of doubt and disquiet Your lips sewn shut by your own doing I never saw behind those drifting eyes And I wonder A sight unseen, a frame that tells us lies What’s yours was once mine Long buried in lost time Frozen faces etched in my head Dear loved ones in deathbeds Yours and mine Passing eyes all the while Perched atop a crooked smile Her lips said scorn Her eyes black Her vile form Her prideful act My answer framed Lesson learned A cruel debt paid Let Exile burn Words from afar whisper who I am Pulled at the seams, torn on where I should stand The years made up this dark day In the worst way What should I say? A kiss to send me away Unspoken words weigh heavy upon my chest Your ears too deaf to listen Teardrops echo in the sound of doubt and disquiet Your lips sewn shut by your own doing I never saw behind those drifting eyes And I wonder A sight unseen, a frame that tells lies
9.
Silent War 05:08
I come to you on even ground With high regard between our crowns And yet the years speak of the time gone The stars align and recall every one I come to you on higher ground With rose petals gently raining down And as you ascend to meet me His order falls so softly In endless winds, we begin our quiet hunt for what we think this is for But listen there, in the air, an empty hum to end this silent war Forgotten fleets in the sea, may you find your peace forevermore So listen there, in the air, an empty hum to end this silent war
10.
Dead air Not a word Step so softly She'll be heard I'll creep into your head with tones to wake you The stream swells to a flood to reshape you I feel the call echo in my bones I fear the thought of sinking alone Riddles unravel and reform before my eyes Little notes sneak in, spinning truth into the lie A moment left as myself A moment 'til I'm a shell Don't let me sink alone I'm still me I'm not meant to fall for the throne Unmake me please [The dye of shades that color the canvas The life bringing stroke. A land in harmony What memory resides in us all? The home that beckons us from afar. A blue vale What silently sleeps beyond the great blue? One to guide the aimless back to the source. Exile. And the last? I do not know it] I see the sky of times gone by A long off call from afar From plains of gold to burning cold I stand between you and your home I will wait to hear the words that answer the far off call I'm born anew Don't recognize you I only know she who speaks the verse I bend the knee to every word And all the while, that crooked smile still speaking down to me Rip at the seam, a hidden scream I sink into the deep With you, with her, with words Riddles unravel and reform before my eyes Little notes sneak in, spinning truth into the lie
11.
My feet sink into the soil, and I can't help but think, “No one deserves to be here more than you.”
12.
Resign 11:43
At home in the rust and rain My land defaced, but still it feels the same The air of our deeds that still linger Our life is etched in stone and burning cinders I flew across half the world In hopes that we might let our way unfurl My view of you trails as we ascend The stars are shifting, seven rolls to ten This path's been tread before An ache, both mine and yours With the voice to speak the verse A balance held in words When you reach me here, Where I've remained for years The great blue, you will mend For the riddles have an end Can you hear me now? My cries buried deep below And yet I'm still the same Even though I've lost my name My stone set eyes roll back The vines pull to find where it's at The key, they'll never find I'll see the queen resign When will the winds begin to calm? Is the end to this within my palm? When the world is still, we'll know our place This is all we've known underneath a divided sky Living as aimless souls just to see the other side All said, I somehow knew we'd end up here Maybe the seed was planted in my dreams And yet, their whispered words, I can't forget Their stare, from out of sight, has always been there [What silently sleeps beyond the great blue? One to guide the aimless back to the source. Exile. The dye of shades that color the canvas The life bringing stroke. A land in harmony The road the precursors have paved The road forged by vast winds. The Grand Stream What memory resides in us all? The home that beckons us from afar. A blue vale] My hands won't stop shaking as we break through to the other side The long off call hears the answer to bridge the divide Now bring forth a breath of life To send us all back home and leave the Hourglass behind The blue star leads us all the way home

about

So here it is.
The third release from tB Project, Hourglass of Exile is a 77 minute gapless concept record inspired by Last Exile.
In what's becoming a normal occurrence for me, this album has been in the works for several years. The earliest written material for HoE dates back to about 2012, and the album wasn't fully written until early 2021. So needless to say, I'm very proud that this album is seeing the light of day after so many years.
At this point in my musical career, I feel like this album is the best thing I've ever made; musically, lyrically and production-wise. I've had the great honor to work with some incredible musicians from all over the world during the making of this album, including Chris Sampson (Azure), Matt Graff (The Koop Studio), Zach Kamins (An Endless Sporadic, The Flower Kings), Jarod Fedele, and Mattias IA Eklundh (Freak Kitchen). And of course my own little horn quartet comprised of Miles Izzo, Michael Pilley and Drew Vandewinckel. And again, Anna Armstrong, makes an appearance on a few songs. Having the inclusion of all these amazing musicians really elevated the songs and I can't express how appreciative I am that they all lent their talents to this project.
Aside from that, I feel like I should just let the album speak for itself. Thank you to all who took the time to listen to my music. It means a lot. Stick around for another 8 or 9 years and maybe you'll be able to hear my next album.
